I believe that the desire to play or to have fun is key to creating real change in the world. To me the moments of fun are what bring me back to childhood innocence - to a place that is clean, without judgement and without fear. It is in these moments of absolute childlike openness that I put aside the restrictive beliefs I have placed upon myself as an adult. From the space of a child I can accomplish anything and the world is mine to change.

I watch my children and other young-at-hearts around me and am inspired by the joy they see in life. I sometimes wonder...at what age will each of them start to view life as serious? I wonder which of life's circumstances will attempt to cement this belief. Will it be when a once friend becomes something less? Will it be when they experience the loss of a loved one? Or, perhaps when - looking at the nightly news - they realize that people can be cruel to each other. Or might it be when they see someone in need and their heart aches? While I could pray that they never experience such things I know that such a prayer would be in vain. I therefore pray that they draw strength out of those experiences they may not ask for and continue to view the world even more as if through the eyes of a child - that no matter the circumstance or challenge - they always recognize the child within themselves. The pure, open, perfect being that the world may only see briefly but that the universe sees forever.
This is also my prayer for the world. To be healed through the eyes of a child - the one within each one of us. This may seem naive but I believe that experiencing childlike frivolity is key to healing not only my own soul but the world.
